Corgi Messerschmitt Bf109G-6 Hauptmann Gerhard Barkhorn And Ground Crew, II/JG52. US34903

REF:US34903 Scale 1:32 Length 274mm Wingspan 304mm Limited Edition

From Corgi’s Aviation Archive Flight Line Collection is this breathtaking 1:32 scale Limited Edition Messerschmitt Bf109G-6 as flown by Hauptmann Gerhard Barkhorn of the II/JG52. Included are three 1:32 scale hand painted metal figures of Hauptmann Gerhard Barkhorn and his Luftwaffe ground crew. With accurate markings, moving propeller and rudder and opening cockpit canopy, the attention to detail is excellent.

In 1938 Hauptmann Gerhard Barkhorn joined the Luftwaffe and saw action in the Battle of Britain. In August 1942 he transferred to II/JG52 and flew the Me-109 which was his favourite aircraft. Unlike others in the Luftwaffe, he was not a big single-day scorer. His best single mission score was seven kills in a single day. This vignette from Corgi portrays Barkhorn describing one of his kills to his ground crew. Barkhorn flew over 1,100 combat missions and was shot down nine times and scored 300 victories. This Limited Edition masterpiece is a must-have for anyone interested in World War II military aviation.
